Becky Sirc, a barista at Donkey Coffee, makes an order on October 12, 2016.
Nearly everyone in Athens is obsessed with Donkey Coffee and Espresso. It’s cool vibe and homey feel make it a great place to hang out with friends or catch up on some homework.
It is common knowledge that Athens is basically a series of hills, and unforgiving hills at that. Get a head start on your stamina by walking around town and reminding yourself of how beautiful Athens is.
Don’t forget to check out the beautiful views those dreadful hills can offer. Hiking up Bong Hill before sunset and hanging around to see the sun go down over town is a sight to see.
Taking a walk around The Ridges, formerly known as the Athens Lunatic Asylum. Read up on some of the creepy legends of the ghosts before going and walking around with flashlights and friends.
Be a quintessential college student and hang out on the beautiful College Green. Take a book or have a picnic with friends and feel all the feels of being a college student.

The exterior of Courtside Pizza, 85 N. Court St., in 2015.
Despite the long line, be sure to grab a slice of pizza from Courtside Pizza on
Wednesday nights before having a night out on the bricks (if you are of age, of course)
The combination may sound weird to some, but it is a good one. Grab this Athens-favorite sandwich at Uptown Grill.
Go to the famous Union Street Diner, open all day, every day, to grab some of the best diner food in Athens. Between the food options, such as fried mac and cheese and milkshakes, to the servers who are basically your best friends, it’s a great place to stop by anytime of the day.
Grab a bike, or just walk along the path any time of day for some beautiful views of the campus and the Hocking River. The bikeway is also a great place to just take a break when you need one.
Try to be a responsible student and plan out your week with a planner, whether it be the OU planners or a floral Lilly Pulitzer one. Yes, it is more than likely that we will all fail at using the planner for more than the first month of school, but at least we all tried.
Treat yourself to a new OU T-shirt to celebrate another (or first) year back on the most beautiful campus in the world. There are no shortages of bookstores Uptown with tons of options to choose from.
